There are a few ways we can work together.
We start with an Initial Consultation and make a plan from there.

Our first session is a chance to explore your story, what is happening now and what has brought you here.
We’ll spend around 45 minutes making sense of the bigger picture — your health history, current concerns and what feels most important to explore.
There is no expectation that everything needs to be fixed. We’re simply beginning to understand what your body might be responding to and where support may help.
We’ll usually finish with around 40 minutes of the Hands-on Work, giving you a chance to experience the treatment whilst providing me with an opportunity to observe how your breathing, muscle tone and body respond to a felt sense of safety.
Please wear a loose-fitting top. The Hands-on Work focuses around the head, neck, face, ears and above the collarbones.
"The assessment was brilliant and thorough — I felt completely at ease that she understood not only my physical state but also my emotional and mental state."
"You can tell how knowledgeable Jo is. She worked instinctively to what my body could take in my first session."

One-to-One Sessions can be hands-on, practical and educational — or a combination of all three. What we do depends on you and what your system needs at the time.
Hands-on Work
Sometimes the most useful place to start is by doing very little.
Hands-on Work gives the body an opportunity to experience safety and settling without any effort on your part.
For some, it becomes part of our wider work together. Others simply come for the treatment itself — a gift from themselves to themselves.

"I had been struggling with sleep before this treatment and slept so deeply that night — and since."
“I can’t explain it, except to say that since the last session it has finally felt safe to be in my body again”.
Making Sense of Your Nervous System
Understanding why your body responds as it does can bring relief, compassion and a little less shame and blame.
From there, we learn to work with your nervous system rather than against it.
I tend to think about this in three parts:
Awareness
Noticing how your system responds, what influences it and patterns that may have been hiding in plain sight.
Acceptance
Meeting yourself where you are.
Your physiology isn’t the enemy. It is responding for a reason.
Acceptance doesn’t mean liking how you feel or resigning yourself to it. It means starting from what is actually here.
Action
Creating more of the conditions that help your system settle, recover and build capacity over time.
Sometimes, action is actually inaction: Doing less. Pausing. Not pushing through. Not immediately trying to change how you feel.
The practices that follow aren’t about controlling your nervous system or getting yourself into the “right” state.
They are simple ways of noticing what your system needs, responding with a little more choice, and gradually expanding your capacity to meet what life brings.
What happens between sessions matters too.
Together we find small, realistic ways to practise what your nervous system is learning and bring it into everyday life.

We Regulate in Relationship.
Vagal Toning Circles bring together community, nervous system education and embodied practice.
We begin with time to arrive, listen and connect. Share as much or as little as you like. There is no pressure to speak and no need for anyone to offer solutions.
Sometimes simply being heard is enough.
Each week we explore a different aspect of the nervous system, then put some of what we’ve learned into practice through breath, movement, sound, touch and natural vagus nerve stimulation.
The practices I share draw particularly on the work and teaching of Dr. Arielle Schwartz, alongside my own clinical experience and training.
We finish with time to integrate, ask questions and notice what has changed.
Each Circle stands alone, so you can join at any point.
Come once and learn something useful. Come regularly and let your understanding — and the community around you — build.
"Jo taught in a way that meant it was easy to continue the work outside of the session — it's now built into my daily routine."
"The experience was truly transformative. I felt a deep sense of calm during and afterward, and gained tools to manage stress I never expected."
